Tamar Telecommunications joins The Great Big Rhino Project!

Tamar Telecommunications is proud to announce that it is now part of Paignton Zoo’s Great Big Rhino Project.

We have signed up to sponsor a unique piece of three-dimensional public art – a life-size model rhino.

Tamar Telecommunications Jamie Christoforou said: “We have supported Paignton Zoo for several years and when we were approached about The Great Big Rhino Project, we just had to support the project. We look forward to our involvement in The Great Big Rhino Project and wish the project all the success it deserves.”

Following on from Paignton Zoo’s successful Great Gorillas Project of 2013, the Great Big Rhino Project promises to be bigger and better. Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, the region’s largest and best-known zoo and a registered charity, is raising funds for Javan and Sumatran rhino conservation.

Life-size model rhinos are being sponsored by businesses and community groups, painted in original designs by specially-commissioned artists and displayed in public, creating a unique art trail around Exeter and the English Riviera.

Paignton Zoo Director of Marketing & Development Pippa Craddock said: “We are very pleased to have such a significant new name on board. The project is an amazing mix of art, education, conservation and public engagement. The funds raised will be used by Paignton Zoo to support rhino conservation projects.”

Main event partner – Wild in Art, a leading public art company
Torbay Council
Exeter City Council

The Great Big Rhino Project will not only enable Paignton Zoo to continue its vital conservation and education work, it will also help Save the Rhino International to save the Critically Endangered Javan and Sumatran rhinos, the former of which just 58-61 animals persist.

Paignton Zoo is home to two black rhinos – Manyara (male) and Sita (female).
